Introducing…..Source RP

It’s our third birthday coming up next month and what better way for us to celebrate than to create a new bit of Mend!

We are very excited to be launching a new Responsible Procurement (RP) network for the built environment, called Source RP, at a special event being hosted by our client Virtus Contracts, on 21st November 2013.

With RP issues such as social value, ethical sourcing, sustainable employment and supply chain diversity being top priorities for commissioners and stakeholders; Source RP is designed to help people connect, share and learn with other people and organisations that are delivering in this very complex and fast moving agenda.

What is clear is that RP is an agenda that is not going away. There is a growing sophistication on the part of clients and commissioners who understand the need to address RP and will cascade the impetus for delivering this to the construction and development industry. If the industry is going to respond, then it has to evolve and develop new ways of thinking and doing.

Source RP comes on the back of our experience in implementing RP programmes and providing RP support to the construction and development industry, with clients such as Crossrail. We have written articles for Construction Manager on the challenges and benefits of embedding RP in the construction industry.

We are very good at networking here at Mend, and love connecting people and ideas. As clients and practitioners grapple with how to implement RP on complex infrastructure and construction projects we felt there needed to be a space for us to come together and share issues and experience. This way, we can all benefit from accelerating towards knowing how to do things differently and better.

Source RP will provide a platform to exchange and find information; events with opportunities to meet and share; training to learn from our peers; and a network to find partners for projects and initiatives.

We want to help RP become a functional and creative part of business decision-making and culture as opposed to be an ad-hoc bolt-on. We want to mainstream RP not make RP mainstream!

You can help create Source RP by following us here @source_rp and by letting us know if you would like to get involved and be part of the network. Drop us a line on liane.hartley@mendlondon.org.uk

The Source RP website is being built as we speak www.sourcerp.org.uk and will include more information, updates and news as we develop.

Thanks and look forward to connecting with you.
