Mend @ EcoBuild 2014

Mend is looking forward to participating in EcoBuild 2014 at what promises to be a fantsastic event to celebrate 10 years of EcoBuild.

This event has always had a special place in our hearts as we made the decision to take the plunge and set up Mend over a pizza at EcoBuild 2010!

This year Liane will be chairing a Future Cities Seminar session in the Future Cities Zone on Thursday 6th March 2014 12.30-14.00 titled “Place-making with people in mind – the brief for success?” The session will explore different ways practitoners have sought to weave social needs into the fabric of towns and cities and how to create urban extensions which relate to the particulars of an existing town or city and can be identified as ‘somewhere’ places, not just ‘anywhere’ places.

She will be joined by a fantastic panel including Graham Marshall, Maxim Urban Design and University of Liverpool Prosocial Place Programme; Liz Kessler, Associate, Rethinking Cities; Gary Jackson, Director, LightUp Analytics and Nicole Lazarus, Bicester Eco-town Programme Manager, Bioregional.

Please join us for what promises to be a fascinating and very timely session given the debates ongoing about the future of housing in the UK and indeed the challenges posed by the Wolfson Prize on a solution for Garden Cities.

You can register for your free entry into EcoBuild 2014 here and access to the seminars and events that are taking place over the three days.

Mend is also taking part in the next Urbanistas Social which is hosted by EcoBuild 2014 and is taking place after the main EcoBuild programme has finished. The event features special guest speakers from Caravanserai and there will be an opportunity to network with other Urbanistas and friends.

You can book your tickets to this event here.

See you there!
