Liane is Founder-Directpr of Mend. She combines her personal interest in the social dynamics of how people live in cities and the future of cities, with her professional skills in strategy, policy, collaboration, and project delivery. Her work with Mend involves using planning, development, design, and procurement processes to make more socially responsible decisions and help generate better social outcomes and urban experiences for stakeholders by seeing the “Community as Client”. Her practitioner experience includes designing and delivering social sustainability and responsible procurement programmes for regeneration schemes and mega urban transport projects, including Crossrail, Bank Station Capacity Upgrade and Tideway. She is particularly skilled in understanding and maximising the interface between infrastructure, urban regeneration, and community development. Liane is also skilled at understanding the practicalities and complexities of delivering on policy ambitions in project environments.
Liane is known for her ability to bring eclectic groups of people together and is the original founder of Urbanistas, a global network for amplifying the voices of women to make cities better for everyone.
Liane is a systems thinker and is able to see the complexity and simplicity of project components, interfaces and contexts. She has experience designing and developing solutions across sectors with a focus on cities and society
